KUALA BESUT, July 14 ― 

A group of eight young men plan to make an hour-long journey here from their homes in Kelantan every day just to caution people against voting for Barisan Nasional (BN).

“We’re here not only during the weekends, but also weekdays. The moment we finish class at 3pm every day, we’ll drop by here,” said Mohd Khamis Saloman Pariz, 19.

Kuala Besut is just over an hour’s drive from the Kota Baru town of Nilam Puri, where the International Islamic College of Sultan Ismail Petra (KIAS) is located.

The student activists, who will make the journey in a five-year-old silver Kia Pregio van, want to remind Kuala Besut voters about the oil royalty issues that continue to plague their home state, warning it might one day affect folks in Terengganu, too.

“Our hope is to bring up the issues of oil royalty and territorial water sovereignty,” group leader Aduka Taruna, 32, told The Malay Mail Online at an impromptu rally near a Ramadan bazaar here.

“We would like to share this with Kuala Besut voters... we want them to consider the issues of natural resources, dignity, and sovereignty when they cast their votes.”

The sleepy fishing town of Kuala Besut will see a by-election on July 24; it will be a straight fight between local boys Azlan Yusof, 48, from PAS, and BN’s Tengku Zaihan Che Ku Abdul Rahman, 37.

Originally from Seremban, Aduka is a committee member of grassroots movement “R”, which is part of Kelantan’s battle with Putrajaya for oil royalty the PAS government says is due to the state.

Since the discovery of new oil reserves there last year, there is an ongoing dispute about whether it is located inside Pahang or Terengganu, and most importantly, which state is owed the oil royalty.Holding placards saying “Telaga Bertam hok Ganu” (Bertam field is Terengganu’s) and “Kembalikan Bertam hak kite” (Return Bertam, our right), the group wishes to remind Kuala Besut folks about the Bertam oil field, situated 160 kilometres off the coast of peninsula Malaysia.

Since the discovery of new oil reserves there last year, there is an ongoing dispute about whether it is located inside Pahang or Terengganu, and most importantly, which state is owed the oil royalty.

“Najib had announced that Bertam belongs to Pahang through a media statement ... there was no legal process,” Aduka complained, referring to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

In October, the PM announced that Pahang is expected to be awarded a royalty of RM100 million annually, commencing from the start of operations in the third quarter of 2014.

KIAS student Nik Aziz Afiq Abdul, 19, tagged along after being inspired by the call of Prophet Muhammad to not turn a blind eye on injustice.

“The struggle for the people’s right is consistent with the Prophet’s command ... when we see injustice, we have to fight it together,” Nik Aziz said, shortly after delivering a brief public “tazkirah” (lecture) on Muhammad’s words.

In between speeches, the van played pro-Pakatan Rakyat (PR) songs, including “Undi Bulan” which was set to the tune of a popular Aidilfitri song. The song’s title means “vote moon” ― a reference to Islamist party PAS’ crescent logo.

The group will share the homes of fellow “R” activists based in Terengganu, as they rotate their roster throughout the 12-day campaign which started on Friday.

After meeting the Terengganu group just the night before, Aduka has conceded that they would have to adhere to the different campaigning culture in the state.

“You cannot use personal attacks against your opponent,” he noted.

The group received an unexpected visit from PAS candidate Azlan, or Che Long as he is popularly known, just before breaking fast.

“Ambo will serve as best as I can,” said Azlan during his brief speech, referring to himself in the East coast dialect.

The Kuala Besut by-election will be held on July 24 and was called following the death of BN’s Dr A. Rahman Mokhtar on June 26 from lung cancer.

The state seat has 17,679 registered voters, of which 98 per cent are Malays.

KUALA LUMPUR: Rembau branch chief Badrul Hisham Shaharin or better known as Chegubard today launched a movement known as the Original Non Umno (ABU).

People's Movement 'Original Non Umno (ABU)' Umno BN established to ensure fallen at the next General Election, said Chegubard acting as a coordinator.

This is because he, decades of BN UMNO rule, too much greed that caused the party.

"The BN UMNO rule, we are together contributing, due to our attitude as 'leave, do not mind and ignorant' in inculcating the brute force of government," he said at a press conference at the Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall today.

He cited the administration of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who is also Umno president when this often fickle minded decisions.

It includes Peaceful Assembly Act 2011 that kononnnya for Malaysia as the world's best, but actually more brutal than the previous law.

He said, ABU will continue the program from time to time to ensure that Malaysia is ruled by a party that offers a better administration.

Without specifically intended party where he invites people mengahadirkan in public gathering organized by the ABU on Dec. 15 in Markaz Tarbiyah PAS, Garden Melewar, Gombak.

"At the assembly, we will announce something significant to change the political situation in Malaysia because ABU movement will continue to exist as long as Umno exists in this country," he said, who is also Chairman of the Youth Solidarity Malaysia (SAMM).

ABU launch press conference was also held the same throughout the state in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak except for ABU activist barred from entering the two states.

"Umno's strange, they claim Sabah and Sarawak as fixed and always give a statement purportedly Umno state power is not threatened.

"If so, why ABU representatives in the state just to even prevented?" He asked.

Movement, he said, were still continuing in both states next week.

Among those joining the ABU currently includes students, workers, farmers, fishermen, various segments of the NGOs, opposition parties, professionals, artists, mat rempit, unemployed and oppressed communities under Umno administration over the years.

"Although we backed political party, we are to be free because the ultimate goal is the overthrow Umno is too much corruption in this country, it is enough for them," he said.

KUALA LUMPUR, July 7 — For 13 years, he stiffly toed the Barisan Nasional (BN) line, but Dr Tan Kee Kong is now bending his knees to bat the ruling coalition — more specifically, its senior party — out of Putrajaya.
“My dream is to kick Umno out of Putra Jaya,” the 63-year-old who quit Gerakan for PKR two years ago told The Malaysian Insider with much vigour in a recent interview.
“Umno tak boleh pakai,” Dr Tan(picture) crowed, counting down the days to the next general election,which he believes will end with the grand old party being voted  out by  an electorate that had grown more informed of an alternative choice in government since Election 2008. The medical doctor, who retired from practice a decade ago, noted an increasing intolerance at the grassroots level for leaders who failed to practise what they preached and at party leaders too timid to press for reforms.
“We tried, believe me sister, we tried. The time for talking is over. Now is the time for action – kick them out,” Dr Tan said, rather savagely. “BN on one hand is promoting 1Malaysia, it is a good concept but on the other hand, they are promoting Perkasa – their group was registered in six months. Where got such thing? How can?” he quizzed.
A tall, spare man, Dr Tan’s diatribe against the government continued, like a burst dam. He slammed Umno for its double-speak and setting a trend for Malay rights groups like Perkasa.
“I can guarantee you PETRONAS contributes 30 per cent to the government, but the Petronas account has never been tabled in Parliament.
“We run it like a kongsi gelap. What justification is there that the highest lawmakers in the country cannot examine the accounts of Petronas?” he raised, rhetorically.
“The only conclusion is your government have plenty to hide and I blame Dr Mahathir for starting this practice. We in PAC have asked for it but it was never shared,” he added, referring to Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee.
Pointing to the last by-election in Sibu, Dr Tan said the groundswell was growing against Umno’s high-handedness in dealing with divergent views.
“Allah has never been an issue…until stupid Syed Hamid made it into an issue,” Dr Tan ranted.
A devout Christian, Dr Tan was referring to the lawsuits brought by several churches and Christians against the Federal government and its former Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar, for barring non-Muslims from using the word to describe God.
“My Umno friend asked me: ‘Why Christians only now want to use the word?’ But he doesn’t know the facts. He didn’t know we have been using it for so long and it was only Syed Hamid who banned us from using it,” Dr Tan related.

But the PKR man, who is now co-chief on Selangor state’s land management task force admitted the “real fight” to capture Putrajaya lies not with the urban voters in their steel-glass-concrete towers but the masses who live outside the cities.
"We’re going to Felda," he said but refused to elaborate further. The former deputy minister of land and co-operative development recently provoked a national uproar when he accused Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak of single handedly destroying the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) by siphoning off millions from the nation’s cash cow for the latter’s personal use.
Najib has denied the claim but has not signaled he will take any legal action over the potentially defamatory statement.
Similarly, Dr Tan maintains his allegations are true, adding that he had been entrusted to answer all questions on Felda in the Dewan Rakyat by his then boss, minister Tan Sri Kasitah Gaddam.
A latecomer to politics at 50, Dr Tan said he had been “head-hunted” to join Gerakan in 1995 by its then vice-president, Tan Sri Alex Lee. The irony was not lost to those around them — the medical doctor was the son of Gerakan co-founder Tan Sri Dr David Tan Chee Khoon while Lee, a lawyer, was the grandson of MCA’s founding member, Tun H.S. Lee.
”If I were 30, I would think seriously[of leaving], but now in the twilight of my life, no,” said Dr Tan.
Dr Tan explained he hesitated joining politics at a younger age because of his father.  “I saw how he suffered. His health suffered. He literally gave up his life to serve,” the younger Tan said.
Surprisingly, despite Dr Tan’s disillusionment with the BN,  he still took pains to defend Gerakan, even though the party his father founded in 1968 was not the same party the son joined.
“Of all the component parties in Barisan,  Gerakan is the most conscientious,” he said.  The party had by then entered the BN fold.  Even so, the Dr Tan was optimistic he could follow in his father’s footsteps and make a difference.
“My father always told us: help the poor,” he said.
But he soon learnt that joining Gerakan did not mean he would be able to move reforms unless approved by the coalition’s “tai kor” – Umno.  He became disheartened and even had thoughts of quitting the country altogether. ”If I were 30, I would think seriously, but now in the twilight of my life, no,” said Dr Tan.
He claimed the ruling front does not practice consensual agreement, despite the current MCA’s growing boldness (ha ha ha) in speaking out against its sister-party.
“I want to tell Chua Soi Lek: ‘Eh, brother, do you know we’ve been in BN so long, we will never have an equal voice. They are the tai kor.’ “We all had to toe the line, or else…”  Dr Tan said, recounting the silent threat.
He was planning on retiring from politics altogether but an encounter with a taxi driver on a trip to Singapore changed all that.  “In 2000, I flew into Singapore and jumped into this taxi and this man, 63 years old, thisMalay man born in Batu Pahat, Johor who went to Singapore 40 years ago, he told me: ‘Doctor, we Singaporeans will challenge your country and win’.
“That shut me up. That really opened my eyes to how Umno has used the 
NEP as a crutch to appeal to the ordinary Malay.  Just go ask any ordinary Malay out there, they’re fuming,” Dr Tan said, adding that Singapore’s People’s Action Party (PAP) had drummed into its citizen’s heads that the only way forward for the nation was for everyone to: “Get off your backside and work”.

“We are a government-in-waiting.  Give us a chance.  If you don’t like us, you can vote us out in the next election,” Dr Tan pleaded.
“I have a burning zeal to try and build a better country, with the public’s help and with God’s help,” he said.

Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin unhappy with Najib Razak’s 2013 Budget

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s barefaced denial yesterday that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s 2013 Budget was an “election budget” illustrated what is wrong with the UMNO/Barisan Nasional government after 55 years in power – that the Umno/BN government leaders suffer from the dual terminal ailments of denial complex and unprecedented credibility gap.

Even UMNO/Barisan Nasional Ministers, MPs and members would not believe Muhyiddin’s brazen denial that Najib’s 2013 Budget was not an “election budget”.

Why then is the Deputy Prime Minister making a denial that is completely bereft of credibility, whether in Pakatan Rakyat or Barisan Nasional camps?

The only answer is that UMNO/BN leaders continue to suffer from the false sense that they could transform Malaysian politics into a world of make-believe and get ordinary Malaysians to believe what the UMNO/BN leaders decreed, although totally divorced from the world of reality.
It is because of this misguided and misplaced complex that caused UMNO/BN leaders to continue to deny that the growing fear of crime among Malaysians as well as rampant corruption in the country are major problems in the country, falling back on discredited GTP and NKRA statistics and claims of falling crime index and progress in the war against corruption.

But this is false sense of make-believe and denial is not sustainable in the real world, especially in the era of Internet and information technology where information travels at the speed of light and could no more be buried by the BN mainstream media.

Najib had put his finger on the pulse of the problem when he became Prime Minister in April 2009, when he declared that “the era that the government knows best is over”, but the tragedy is that Najib had demonstrated in his 42 months as Prime Minister that he could diagnose the problem afflicting UMNO/BN government but he could not act on the diagnosis, either for lack of political will or personal convictions.
Najib made dubious history yesterday when he transformed his 2013 Budget – which had goodies for almost every sector of the electorate – into a brazen electioneering speech.

Despite Muhyiddin’s post-budget claim that the 2013 Budget is not an “election budget”, Najib devoted more than 10 per cent of his budget speech in a blatant electioneering appeal for continued support for Umno/BN while launching a most improper attack on Pakatan Rakyat.
Najib took MPs and the listening Malaysian public by surprise when he devoted the first six paragraphs of his 2013 Budget speech appealing to Malaysians for continued electoral support for Umno/BN government after 55 years, and hurled charges and insinuations against Pakatan Rakyat.

But he outdid himself at the end of the budget speech when he devoted the last 14 paragraphs of his 174-paragraph budget speech on a unashamed glorification of Umno/BN rule and condemned Pakatan Rakyat, causing many on both sides of the political divide to shake their heads with the common complaint that the 2013 Budget presentation was a poor reflection on the “class” and “standard” both on the Prime Minister and the annual budget.

It is evident that the 2013 Budget hides a very unconfident Najib who is haunted and hounded by the phobia that his fourth budget speech as Finance Minister may be the last Umno/BN budget in Parliament in the nation’s history.

This is why despite all the chest-thumping and braggadocio of supreme confidence that Malaysia will witness six more budgets to be tabled by the Umno/BN Government to transform Malaysia from middle to a high-income developed country, Najib has continued to play the role of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, “To Be or Not To Be”, agonizing over whether “To dissolve or not to dissolve Parliament” since last year.
The reason is simple – Najib has no confidence that he would not be the last Umno Prime Minister in Malaysia or that he would not be toppled as UMNO President and Prime Minister in a repeat scenario like what happened to Tun Abdullah in 2009, becoming the latest “trophy” of Tun Mahathir with the scalps of three DPMs and two PMs!

Plights over NCR Land – Oppression and Suppression by BN
The Dayaks of Sarawak are entitled to Native Customary Rights (NCR) land, but their plights have long been neglected, only because they are the vote banks of the ruling coalition (the Barisan Nasional [BN]).
Let me narrate 2 stories first.
Story 1:
Rumah Juing, a longhouse at Pasir Emas, Sibu, faces a grim future. The land on which it was built in 1989 will be alienated to a private company. The longhouse folks had been asked to move out, and negotiations for resettlement had failed. More than 200 longhouse folks cried for help from the Barisan Nasional, but no help came. They are trespassers and squatters.
Story 2:
In 1996, the BN issued a Handbook, calling it an “official communication guide on NCR development matters”. They promised those natives who own 50 hectares (123 acres) or more of NCR land undreamed-of wealth. They promised rural folks an annual dividend of up to RM40,000 calculated on the basis of crude palm oil price at RM1,400 per tonne. That would mean an annual dividend of RM325 per acre. But the crude palm oil price has since tripled, yet the undreamed-of wealth was so far-far away in “Never”land. Those natives who have entered into joint ventures to develop their NCR land cannot even wriggle out of the agreement. They also cannot go to the Court, even if they receive no dividends.
Now, let me tell the goings-on.
As the largest state in the federation, no one in Sarawak should be land hungry. Blessed with 124,449 square km (12.4 million hectares) of land, Sarawak is a land of aplenty. The fate of Rumah Juing is an irony, but Rumah Juing is not alone.
No NCR can be created after 1^st January 1958. Section 5 of the Land Code (Sarawak) states explicitly that as from 1^st January, 1958 no recognition shall be given to any NCR over any land in Sarawak, and if the land is state land any person in occupation thereof shall be deemed to be in unlawful occupation of state land.
In normal state of things, longhouses expand due to population growth, or they would split because of disputes. Unlike the Chinese, the natives do not move to urban centers. For those who move out, many have built their longhouses on state land. Though some of these longhouses have been supplied with water and electricity, many have not. More often than not, roads and other infrastructures to their longhouses are pathetic.  
The native legislators (ADUNs) from the BN dare not speak out their plight, as it is political suicide to incur the wrath of their political masters. Often, those who speak out the plight of the natives are ADUNs from the Opposition, us the Pakaan Rakyat, despite stinging criticisms from the BN native leaders that we are not more “Ibans” than they are.
The NCR land size in Sarawak is dwindling, being alienated by the state Government to crony conglomerates for oil palm plantation developments.
Through a scheme seductively labeled “New Concept of NCR Land Development” in 1996, many NCR land have been alienated for joint venture oil palm plantation development with big companies/investors. The NCR lands were amalgamated and titles issued in the name of the joint venture company. The landowners would have no beneficial legal equitable or caveatable interest in the land issued with titles. Apart from dividends promised, they are relegated into absolute obscurity. In this joint venture company (JVC), the Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) will hold 10% equity, the natives participants are given 30% equity, and the balance 60% equity will be procured by the investors who will inject cash to the venture.
As at 13^th May, 2009, 406,425 hectares of NCR land had been agreed for New Concept NCR land development involving 26 joint ventures. As at 22^nd June 2011, the area had been expanded to 412,219 hectares involving 34 projects.
Although the development involves the natives’ own land, more foreigners are employed than from the longhouse community. The natives received pathetic amount of dividends from these joint ventures.
On 13^th May 2009, James Masing, the Minister of Land Development, told the state legislature that only 4 out of the existing joint ventures managed to pay out dividends amounting to RM2,301,116.86. That represents an annual return of RM0.27 per acre to the landowners, a sum hardly sufficient to buy a cigarette!
Though the state Government has been asked to update the dividend pay-out, no information is available as yet.
The LCDA and its associated companies faced problems from these joint ventures. On 18^th February 2011, the LCDA and the state Government lost a legal battle involving the joint ventures of NCR land development at Pantu, Sarawak (Kuching High Court Suit No.22-1-2005-1(SG), known as the “Pantu case”.
The native ancestors had settled in Pantu since 1880. The Plaintiffs landowners are the 7^th generation settlers. Attracted by the promise of undreamed-of wealth by the BN Government, the enthusiastic landowners involved themselves in the joint venture. In 2004 their crops and fruit trees were cut and their lands cleared for oil palm plantation envisaged under the Joint Venture Agreement by Indonesian workers of the joint venture company. Valuable crops and several burial sites at the NCR land were also destroyed.
Some 6 years after commencing the oil palm plantation, and 3 years after the oil palm fruits were harvested, no dividends were distributed to the enthusiastic participants. The undreamed-of wealth did not come. The erstwhile landowners do not have any rights whatsoever.
Linton Albert the Judge in that Suit, himself a Sarawak native, aptly put it in this way: “These are cries for justice and the court must respond even if no one else does because one cannot simply throw one’s hands in the air and say that is how life is.”
The New Concept of NCR land development has the noble object to eradicate rural poverty. What happened was a far cry from nobility. The Judge said in succinct language thus: “It is sad that the lofty aims set out in the Handbook had been lost in implementation perhaps by the overzealousness of the various state functionaries involved in the implementation who no doubt have concealed the miseries that the oil palm plantation has brought about and the benefits a far cry from those flaunted in the Handbook.”
The landowners won, because the Court held the agreement illegal, because the subsidiaries of LCDA who implemented the project were non-natives, and under s.8 of the Land Code, no benefits over native land can be enjoyed by non-natives.
The judgment was delivered on 18^th February, 2011, 57 days before the Sarawak state election. Despite its rhetoric of being a caring Government the BN made sure that the fruits of victory by the natives would not be enjoyed as yet. They appealed to the Court of Appeal, which has yet to hear the case. Then, 2 months after the BN was returned to power (by the natives), on 22^nd June 2011 at the state legislature the BN amended the law to plug the loophole against any chance that such joint venture agreement would be illegal. Under the new law, the natives who had entered into the venture cannot even go to the court to ventilate their just claims.
Such is the fate of the natives who have stood by the BN through thick and thin. Not a single native ADUN from the BN dared whisper a simple “No” to the amendment. For the Pakatan Rakyat, myself, Ting Tze Fui, Chong Chieng Jen and Baru Bian spoke against the amendment. And, the BN law-makers turned the table on us, saying that we are against development.
I have reiterated umpteenth times in the legislative chambers that DAP is never against development, so long as they are meaningful to the people. In his first speech in the Dewan Undangan Negeri delivered to object to the amendment, Baru Bian (PKR) said the same thing.
DAP is steadfast to speak the plights of the natives in the Dewan Undangan Negeri when their own representatives dare not. We are not deterred by the many lies of the Deputy Chief Minister Alfred Jabu uttered in and outside the legislative chambers that DAP has oppressed and suppressed the natives in their opportunities on NCR land development. The story of the fate of the natives in the Pantu case provides a complete picture that those who oppressed and suppressed are those in power, the BN. The natives in Sarawak should put an end to this BN’s charade soon.

In 1962, after 15 years of independence, Burma became a reclusive military
state under general Ne Win. Once the economic powerhouse of the region, it
then became a pariah state. The reasons given for the military takeover
were plenty but useful to recollect.

The experiment to form the union of several states to secure independence
was believed to be a “mistake”. The union of many different ethnic
groups were seen as a sellout and detrimental to the largest ethnic
group, the Burmans who comprised 60 per cent of the population. The economy
was under the tight grip of ethnic Indians and they were blamed for  the
lack of business opportunities for the Burmans.

Democracy was seen as a foreign instrument to weaken and disenfranchise the
people. 50 years later, after the loss of thousands of lives involved in
the civil strife, Myanmar –as it is now known – is trying slowly to
return from  poverty and world isolation by embracing real reforms. It
has taken them 50 years to realise that they have to be part of the
world community, or both the oppressor and the oppressed  will perish.

Malaysia is the next Burma. Umno believes that a non-Umno party ruling the
country would be a betrayal to the motherland. So all things
are permissible and morally justified to ensure Umno’s continued rule.
If by some miracle,  BN/UMNO fails to win despite new voters being added to
the roll, then an emergency will be declared and a civilian dictatorship
backed by  the military will take over.

Democracy will not survive in this country, regardless of the outcome of
the election.The general election will never be fair. Bribery is
now institutionalised. Media will continue to be owned by the ruling
party to parrot lies on the opposition. The Election Commission will not
be allowed to do its job properly and because the government can
always confer citizenship to whoever they want and thus the right to
vote; it’s impossible for the Opposition to win an election. There
are millions of Indonesians and Bangladeshis waiting in the queue. For
this reason, it’s difficult to understand why the Pakatan States could not
speak with one voice that they will not dissolve their
respective Assemblies unless they are satisfied with the electoral rolls.

The signs are all there. When Perkasa declared last week that Malaysia will
become a republic if the Opposition wins, none of the country’s top leaders
made any comment, let alone take any action to distance themselves from
this seditious remark. The way in which Utusan is being used to potray the
opposition as anti-monarchy is an indication that if the Opposition wins,
the UMNO machinery will go into high gear to call for a military takeover
to save the country, the King and the Malays.

The mad rush in Parliament to pass laws (of which Parliamentarians have had
no time to read) will give BN the appearance of a reformist and democratic
government, but they will disown democracy if they lose the election.

Are these ramblings of mine unjustified and misconceived? Only an explicit
statement from the PM that the electoral roll will be cleaned before the
general election; and from the Armed Forces Chiefs that they will  respect
the decision of the people in the next general election will do for me and
many Malaysians. They must expressly declare their support for the new
leader regardless of who that might  be. Only such statement will placate
the fears expressed by many  people about our country’s future. Will such
statement be forthcoming?

No. Definitely not. Unfortunately, that’s exactly my point.

KUALA LUMPUR, March 16 — The Najib administration may dissolve Parliament in May for a general election that could likely be held on June 3, Bloomberg reported today, citing three unnamed government officials.
According to the international business wire, the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) government is discussing dissolving Parliament for a general election in May or June, ahead of its mandate expiring in April next year.

“Prime Minister (Datuk Seri) Najib Razak (picture) is scheduled to speak on March 26 to as many as 4,000 Information Ministry staff who help oversee elections, the government officials said. One date proposed for the contest is June 3, according to three of the officials,” it reported.
There is a one-week school break from June 3 which could have led to speculation of a likely general election as school buildings are usually used as polling stations across the country.
Najib had already sparked speculation of an early vote when he said in December that preparations had begun for the contest to extend the ruling coalition’s 55 years in power.
A survey conducted by independent pollsters Merdeka Center last month showed the Umno president’s approval rating had surged by 10 percentage points to 69 per cent on the back of RM500 cash handouts to all households earning below RM3,000 a month.
“All signs seem to be pointing towards an election at the end of May or early June,” Bloomberg quoted Ong Kian Ming, a political analyst at UCSI University in Kuala Lumpur, as saying.
“It’s the best timing for Najib. If he does wait longer there may be other scandals that emerge and the goodwill that he’s enjoying from the budget handouts given out earlier this year may be lost,” Ong added.
Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil announced last week she will step down as women, family and community development minister when her senatorship ends next month after being dogged for over four months by allegations she and her family abused a RM250 million federal loan earmarked for a cattle-farming scheme.
It is understood that Najib and Shahrizat will address some 7,000 Wanita Umno members at the party headquarters here next Friday on the reasons behind her resignation from the Cabinet.
BN will hope that the scandal will draw to a close after the Wanita Umno chief’s husband, who is chairman of the National Feedlot Corporation tasked with running the project, was also charged with criminal breach of trust on Monday.
Najib will lead BN into polls for the first time, with observers saying he must improve on the coalition’s last outing and only a return to a two-thirds majority of Parliament can guarantee he remains in power.
The son of former Prime Minister Tun Abdul Razak succeeded Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi in April 2009, just a year after BN suffered its worst electoral outcome ever, ceding 82 federal seats and four state governments.
Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who was acquitted in January of sodomy charges he claims were politically motivated, has pledged to “clamour for reform” in a bid to unseat Najib after the verdict.

SHAH ALAM: Selangor recorded the highest number of new voters registered between 2008 and the third quarter of 2011, raising concern of electoral fraud in the upcoming general election.
“The normal increase of new voters is usually between 4,000 to 5,000. Howevermost constituencies in Selangor recorded an increase of over 10,000 new voters,” said Seri Andalas assemblyperson Dr Xavier Jayakumar on Tuesday
Subang has 27,765 new voters while its neighbouring parliamentary seat Kelana Jaya recorded a 13,714 increase.
“We’ve our suspicions about the increase. We looked into it and found 100 voters registered under the same house address,” he said.

Subsequently they found 300 other houses with 100 new voters registered for each.
New voters have also been found registered with “Green” MyKads with expiration dates printed on them.
“We’ve seen it used by voters before in Sarawak and we fear it may be used here in the upcoming general election, too,” he said.
Joining him was Meru assembly person Dr Abdul Rani Osman, who urged the Election Commission to investigate these discrepancies.

There are presently 300,000 new registered voters in Selangor.  From the 300,000, 137,000 are Bangladeshi registered in Jalan Belangkas alone, who were recently make citizens of this country and some were newly converted to Muslim not by choice but by force temporary so that they are able to continue working here in Malaysia.
How do I know?  The 137,000 Bangladeshi were all registered with just one 6P Agent in Jalan Belangkas with the help and support direct from Hishamuddin in Putrajaya.
This particular 6P Agent had forced the Bangladeshi to pay him RM4,000 per person to register.  Since most of them are penniless they were forced to sign agreement with this agent to give him the right to all their salaries in return they will get just RM4 per day from the sum.  If the Bangladeshi is above 30 years old the contract is for 12 years.  Anyone below that is 10 years.  So basically the Bangladeshi are now slaves to this 6P Agent.  To further insult the dignity of the Bangladeshi who are non-Muslim are now converted in paper as Muslim.  Reason given is that only Muslim can get a job in Malaysia.  Since this is an open secret, the Bangladeshi have no choice but to accept it with a heavy heart.
Now this particular 6P Agent is going to open a Bangla Restaurant in Jalan Belangkas.
Now if this particular 6P Agent can register 137,000 Bangladeshi in Jalan Belangkas and make them instant citizens just to vote for UMNO in Selangor.  Where do the real Rakyat's vote stand in Selangor?
When Putrajaya first sent the Mykad to this 6P Agent, they missed out the BIN.  Then Putrajaya officers came in their black jeep and took them back.  Two weeks ago they came and gave the new Mykad with the word BIN printed on it.
I am just talking about Bangladeshi in Jalan Belangkas. What about the other aliens with other 6P Agents?
Hishamoo said, "The 6P programme, which includes the registration, legalisation, amnesty, deportation, supervision and enforcement of foreign labour in the country, has registered 2,320,034 illegal and legal foreign workers using the biometric system as of Aug 31. Of these, a total of 1,303,126 are illegals."
This figure is not correct according to source from Putrajaya, the number of foreign workers illegal and legal is above 11 million.  But according to Tony Pua this is unlikely.  Then why is the data base in a tight seal updated by two senior officers only?

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 28 — Lim Guan Eng has accused Umno of using his children as political targets, and charged that his daughter has become the victim of attacks by Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The defence minister had said that the National Service (NS) training programme was now widely accepted and trusted by parents for the positive effect it has on their children, and used the Penang chief minister’s daughter as an example.

He had reportedly said that even DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang had seen how his granddaughter, who went to the Balik Pulau camp, had changed for the better after attending the programme.

“His (Kit Siang’s) son and Penang chief minister (Lim Guan Eng) also told me of the positive effect of the programme and thanked me for it,” Zahid was quoted by Bernama as saying.

But Lim Guan Eng denied this, saying that Zahid’s assertions were wholly “untrue”.

“My daughter is a good kid and is the same before and after joining the NS camp. Both my father and I had never told the defence minister as claimed by him and neither had we thanked him for it,” Lim said in a statement today.

He urged Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders to not use his children as political capital to boost the federal coalition’s credentials, saying that his entire family was “upset” by Zahid’s remarks.

“My family and I love our daughter and want to protect her privacy. We have shielded her from the glare of publicity so that she can grow up and enjoy life with her friends as a normal kid.

“We hope that Datuk Seri Ahmad can respect my daughter’s privacy and not drag her into his political games to justify the NS programme,” added Lim.

The DAP secretary-general stressed that this was not the first time his children had been “unfairly targeted” by Umno, and pointed out how his 15-year old son had been defamed by Umno leaders for allegedly molesting a schoolmate.

Umno blogs also claimed Lim paid RM200,000 to cover up the scandal and transfer his teenage son to another school.

School authorities have since then confirmed that there was no such instance of sexual molestation as alleged by Umno blogs.

The picture of the alleged molest victim published online turned out to be a chess champion who lives in Hong Kong and who has never even met Lim’s son.

“I urge Umno and BN leaders to throw your lies at me if you must but please leave my children alone. They are still studying and are not in politics.

“Have BN and Umno leaders run out of ideas and ideals that their only political capital is to preach lies and hate not only against PR leaders but also at our children?” Lim asked.

Kartunis kontroversi Zulkiflee SM Anwar Ulhaque atau lebih dikenali sebagai Zunar dianugerahkan penghormatan antarabangsa ekoran kritikan sinisnya terhadap perjalan politik di negara ini.
